Intermittent fuel gauge drop to empty Posted by Saabpilot [Email] (#134) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabpilot) on Wed, 14 Nov 2012 06:37:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've read many of the previous posts on this subject. My car is an '07 9-5 Aero. My question is whether the fuel tank / fuel pump / fuel level sender is the same as previous years. A parts search online looks like it may be the same sensor shared by the later model 9-3's and not the earlier model 9-5's.
My symptoms are when I fll the tank everything is fine. Once it's down a bit and at completely random times the gauge will drop to empty, the low fuel light comes on and the DTE on the SID has no value. While driving the gauge will come back to life for a bit then drop back to empty again.
Could this be the loose fuel baffle issue I've read about or perhaps the fuel level sender? And is that thing replaceable or does the entire fuel pump assembly have to be replaced? Like everyone else here, I'm hoping it's a relatively inexpensive fix and that I can do it myself.
Thanks!
