You are right.
From 06 the 9-5 (US spec) received the similar looking fuel pump (P/N 12757165) assembly as the 9-3 Sport Sedan and it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to believe that it might have the same fuel level sensor design and subsequently the same flaws as the 9-3.
If it is the same exact sensor as the 9-3, I can't say since the 9-5 EPC does not reveal a separate part number for the sensor.
The fuel pump assembly though is $954.49 and none of my regular suppliers carry it.
The gas tank has to be dropped for the pump unit to come out just like the 9-3 and a serious sturdy special tool to open the lock ring for pump is needed so I don't see it real easy to DIY.
