You only take out the right-side engine mount. The transmission hangs from the transmission mount, so that when you jack up the trasmission, the engine pivots up on the right side. That gives you the clearance you need between the engine and the subframe. I prefer to put the jack under the oil pan with a wood block to distribute the load. The wood block holds up the engine while the pan is removed. This is actually discribed in the WIS, except there is a set of plastic blocks used instead of the wood.
