all due respect, but if you have 145k on an Aero Wagon with original shocks that are "perfectly fine" your car (or your shocks) belong in the guinness book of world records :-)
I've recently just replaced all suspension components on two Aeros, all mounts, springs shocks and all bushings.
These cars are very sensitive to changes in the suspension. Small changes over time (bad alignments job, components wearing out) have a large impact on driving dynamics and tire wear.
Unfortunately I'd say that the suspension is poorly designed and under-built leading to accelerated wear of all the components. shocks, bushings, etc.
When everything is fresh and new, and adjusted properly the car handles wonderfully.
And if I may be so blunt, the springs are crap, they are surely sagging on your car. Replacing them with OEM will get you about 10k of sag free driving. The best move in terms of the springs is to use spacers to get the correct ride height with your current springs. I've considered aftermarket or custom springs ... that might be the best solution but I dont know of anyone who has done that.
The "push test" not withstanding you'd be wise to refresh the suspension components.
