I don't think rubber in the springs does much.
The Saab OE springs take a set after a while. They will not continue to sag, so all you have to do is put in metal spacers or shims at the bottom of the spring. This will Bring the ride height back up to where is should be and it will stay there.
No need for expensive new springs or self-leveling shocks. that is a wasted of money.
This kind of spacer and shim adjustment is done routinely in racing applications. You are just upping the preload on the spring. spring length and how they will sag with use is just a factor to take into consideration and adjust. No need to throw perfectly good springs away and invest a lot of money in new ones.
Several companies sell spacers. Genuinesaab dot com comes to mind. There are some very good ones sold on eBay as well.
I have them on my 2001 Aero along with Koni sports in the rear and they have been great for 7 years.
My son has Bilsteins on his 2001 wagon and aluminum spacers from eBay and that got the rear up to 610mm where it is supposed to be and it has worked well for a long time with no more sagging at the rear. Spacers are less than $100 USD.
