I've got a set of Conti Extreme Contact DWS on my '05 Aero wagon, and wore out a set on my '04 Aero wagon. Also have a '05 Arc that had Pirelli P6 tires, and two of them had tread separation even though the tires were fairly young. I replaced with the new Conti Pure Contact, which does not have the performance rating, but seems very good in rain and dry. It is also rated well in snow, but haven't been there yet, so will see.
I had some MXV4s on my'95 9000, and the handling was lousy from day one. Unfortunately they wore very well, so I couldn't seem to get rid of them. Finally I spun out on an expressway entrance partially due to loose gravel all over the road, but also the lack of traction in the tires. I counted my blessings at not having done damage and replace the tires with Kuhmos which were vastly superior. Point is, my experience with the MXV4 is bad, though dated.
I've recently had 4 of 8 Pirelli tires (2 P6, and 2 P0 nero) treads separate. Won't buy again.
