Purchased a 2000 aero wagon with an oil leak. I was told by the previous owner that he replaced the o-ring and the main seal. I thought maybe he might had did it wrong so I was going to do it again. Then I found out about the head may have to be retorqued. So I was going to do that. Before I was able to do that my check engine light came on.

Long story short, I now have low compression in #2 cylinder and a misfire which I am assuming is because of the low compression.

My question is should I go with a newly used engine or should I rebuild this one that I have? Me myself, I was thinking rebuild, that way I would be able to possibly get a better oil pick up to be able to keep sludge at bay, and get rid of the pistons that I have been reading about that are the culprit for the sludge also. I purchased the car for $800 at 196k and right now I am nearing 200k, just slightly off by about 700 miles.

If I was to go with the rebuild what would be a good set of pistons to get? Should I go with forged or see if I can find a set of OEM b234r pistons? Also with this misfire will it most likely that I will bend a valve or will the timing and cams keep that from happening? There really seems to be no deterioration in performance but fuel economy has gone down but its not to much worse than what it already was, which was bad for some reason. Before this blown ring I was doing about $10 a day on a 60 mile round trip to and from work and now I'm doing about $12 to $15 a day.

Just looking for advise on what you guys would do because I'm still getting use to this 9-5, always been a 9000 man. I'm going to stop here before I start to ramble on about completely irrelevant things about the car. Thanks everyone.
