Right - I meant the Temp Sensor NOT an O2 sensor. I own a V6 as well, and the thermostat is a PITA to change (not anywhere as easy as the 4) so I would do the sensor first. When the thermostat fails open, it will eventually set a code.
Yes, the DICs are expensive, but the cat is more expensive and very hard to source (I was very luck to get one). I agree with Bob on pushing luck. How old are the DICs? Make sure you source OE Genuine / SEM ones and install the correct plugs along with them.
