The oil getting into the plug wells is usually from the valve cover gaskets leaking and then getting past the DIC seals
The DIC seals should just slide up the DIC with the beveled edge facing down. When fighting gravity I’ve used a dab of dielectric grease to hold the rings flush against the bottom of the cartridge. Then seat the cartridge carefully so the rings form the seal they should.
When I last changed my plugs, I found that a couple of the DIC gaskets were badly cracking so I replaced them from eEuroparts. Since having the original valve cover gaskets changed a couple years ago, the plug wells stay quite dry; negligible oil. Then again at 290,000 miles, I guess some oil seepage is to be expected!.
