Another symptom we discovered is if you press the brake pedal as in a normal stop, the power-assist is fine. In a hard emergency stop, there is little or no power-assist which is dangerous. My car still has the hard plastic vacuum line between the Intake Manifold and the Brake Booster. I'm pretty sure the in-line check-valve is not working and the rubber connection at the Intake Manifold is rotted and leaking. The red piece is also disintegrated. The Check-valve isn't coming out of that hard, baked plastic line. I went to NAPA and they laughed at me asking for new parts. So I might have to rig something up to fix the leaks. I'm also wondering if the Brake Booster is leaking where the rod from the brake pedal enters during a sudden hard stop?
I love this old SAAB but finding parts is becoming more difficult.
