I could not find anything that was clear about the limits of using newer TCMs on older cars. If one uses a TCM for paddle shifter cars on a car without paddle shifters (or possibly vice versa), then there is an error code and probably gear light. At one point, Saab indicated that newer TCMs fit older cars, but then it stopped updating the info which wasn't very broad anyway. 02 cars seem to have the most TCM issues, then 03s, and then it is less from there.
Your link shows that part number 55352924 superseded part number 5440599. 55352924 seems to be the part number for the replacement units, but that does not mean that other part numbers will not work. These are supposedly Aisin-Warner part numbers, not Saab. Here's a photo with some other part numbers, but it doesn't list the ones you gave.
Given it would drive at all without codes, I'd need to know more to assume the newer TCM part number is the problem. Maybe someone here knows more about this all. This is not a Saab specific issue as here are some Volvo owners discussing a similar issue: https://www.swedespeed.com/threads/aw55-51sn-transmission-disengagement.653371/
