MAP Sensor Code - P1106 Posted by Doug W [Email] |
'08 9-5 SC 2.3t 69,000 miles.
Getting a recurring MAP sensor code (P1106).
No change in driveability. I pull the sensor and it's covered with oil.
I replaced the sensor and the code comes back.
Could the oil be indicative of bad turbo bearings or seals? Or am I seeing symptoms of poor air / oil separation? Thoughts?
The car does not appear to have excessive oil consumption.
The inside of the intake tube near the sensor shows evidence of oil coating.
This is a one owner car we got last year. From what evidence we have, the prior owner was elderly and lived in coastal Maine. The car has low miles so we're thinking it saw lots of short trips in a typically cool climate and rarely got driven hard - no Italian tune-ups. Not exactly the most benign duty cycle.
I kept the old sensor and cleaned it. I'll clear the code and put the cleaned sensor back in to see how long it takes for the code to come back.
