This 9-5 BB is the most conservative BB out of the NG900/9-3/and 9-5. I think that if this was originally posted on the NG board and/or 9-3 boards where modifications abound, the responses would perhaps be different.
SAAB absolutely has to come to the table with new models and HAS to come with a model to attract younger/first time buyers. Timing is just horrible with the world almost at war, the economy in the tank, and heavy job cutbacks in SWEDEN.
The AWD tranny in a lightweight performance ride priced in at 21-25k is the perfect slot.
SAAB has never successfully introduced a car at the slot for which it was intended--by the time it gets off their drawing table to the dealer, the costs have always exceeded estimates (aka the NG 900). That has been their problem besides the (other fact) the cars never seem to get launched "on time" as SWEDEN seems to be plagued by delays. Note the recent delays with the new 9-3 SS.
If these 3 things could be fixed---and I would guess that DK-E has them on her "to do" list, SAAB could become a real big time player on the world stage.
