Problem solved... dealer's not so bad after all. Posted by IanC [Email] (#139) [Profile/Gallery] (more from IanC) on Thu, 31 Jul 2003 05:43:24 In Reply to: '00 MT Woes or lousy dealer? OK... it seems like there's a happy ending to this story after all. It all comes down to a lack of communication. I brought my car in to be fixed yesterday morning and later in the day, got a call from the service manager. We had a long conversation followed up by a test drive together when I picked up my car.
The reason for the tranny popping out of gear is that they replaced some springs relating to shifting mechanism for third and fourth gear when they did the initial repair. Until they loosened up, it would be more difficult to shift into those gears. In fact, it was happening less frequently over the last few days and actually didn't do it at all when I drove it home.
The service advisor handling the case wasn't around when I picked up the car on Friday and there was no paperwork describing what they did so the person giving me my car back didn't know anything.
Anyway, I was impressed with the time the service manager spent explaining what was going on and the effort he made to assure me that there wasn't really a problem. He made it clear that he wanted me to be a satisfied customer and bring my car there for servicing all the time. I guess if they had mentioned after the initial repair that the shifting would be more difficult, all of this could have been avoided.
Bottom line, they're not so bad after all...
