I also have a 2000 Aero MT purchased at Robert Motor cars in Woodbury Ct. I don't believe Ian should be angry at Robert Motor cars. This is clearly a SAAB issue. My car also had remaining "factory Warranty" when I purchased it. A month after I purchased it the slush box started to become very hard shifting (48k miles). I quickly made an appointment @ Valenti motors in Wartertown Ct. The local Saab dealer for me. Two weeks later I had my car back with a completly rebuilt transmission. Great right. Wrong!!! 9000 miles later in July. now out of warranty by miles (57K) the transmission came apart on the way to work. The car is now back at Valenti for repais. Going on the 4th week and parts are still on backorder. However, Valenti has offerd a loaner and got SAAB to pick up the entire cost of the repair.
**** The moral of the story is SAAB obviously has a problem with the MT in 2000 9-5 Aeros. However, in my case the dealer and Saab have done right by me. For now I will continue to drive these cars because they are one of the best deals on the used market (would nerver buy one new!) and Saab supports the product well.
By the way Robert Motor Cars has been very good to me as well. Reprograming my remote and tech II options for free. Even giving me a free air filter when the NAPA down the street was 3 days out in getting one and I was changing my oil and air filter that weekend. They are good people.
