1. I've been switching cars to AMSOIL for over 25 years, starting with a Saab 99. Have yet to blow a seal or gasket!!!
2. Yes, synthetics will clean. There are some very good engine flushes on the market to use before cleaning--AMSOIL and BG come to mind. Otherwise, if you see an indication of sudden increase in oil consumption, change the filter and top off.
3. I've been using AMSOIL ATF in Saab transmissions since it came on the market (maybe 18 years ago). Had it in 99s, 900s 9000s and (daughter's) NG900. Have yet to see any problem. Saab recommended (in the US) against synthetic oil for over 20 years, too. Then they got bottles that said SAAB!
