1. Wrong. I have never heard this from any other source. With synthetic oils being on the market for years now, this would be a widely reported problem if he was correct.
2. Wrong. Automatic transmission fluid is a hydraulic oil, not an engine lubricant. Although both have distinct lubrication properties, their intended purpose and additive packages are completely different. Why not use Wesson oil in your engine if oil is oil?
3. Maybe valid. The cost of a transmission rebuild is too expensive for me to second guess Saab when they clearly state not to use synthetic automatic transmission oils. Although Saab's reasoning sounds valid as a cautionary note, I think the "Jury is still out" on this item. Too many reports of owners using synthetic without any problems to not be curious about the accuracy of Saab's statement.
4. Wrong. There is no gasket on the automatic transmission drain.
