My 03 9-5 Aero S/W has enough base.
As for focus and sound staging, the stock dash drivers suck. I installed Kappa 3.5" drivers with an outboard crossover network. That was a huge improvement. I also upgraded the x-over with highg quality bypass caps and that really sharpened things a lot. Vocals are really now very very good. Better yet would be replacement with film caps and removal of the bipolar electrolytic caps. Note that most other alternatives will have one tiny electrolytic capacitor for the X-over. Electrolytic caps create many accoustic problems. There are no bipolar electrolytic caps that are good enough, its the electrolytic that is the problem, not quality of construction.
The system is alive at any listening volume. If does not start to sound dead at low volumes. And when loud things don't start to sound congested.
For such quality you only want two tweeters in the system or imaging will get confused. And you want a coax driver so the tweeter and midrange are located together. You do not want a tweeter in the dash and the midrange in the door!
