I have a 9-5 sedan with the Harmon Kardan AS3 setup so I mounted the Basslink to the floor of the trunk with four screws (provided), up against the driver's side wall. Takes up very very little space.
The basslink has two 10" drivers, one a powered active subwoofer, the other a passive radiator (non-powered). It has a 200W amp built in with its own crossover. You can wire it diretly from the head unit if you like, or you can simply splice in from the speaker signal sent to the rear speakers (you just need to tap into any speaker that is receiving the low frequencies from the head unit). All the necessary wires (except the power wire from the battery for the built-in amp) are provided. It also comes with a remote bass level control, which is just a little black box about 1.5" by 1" with a knob on it, connected to the basslink by a telephone type wire. I had this installed in the little cubby in the center dash where the ashtray would go.
The basslink has absolutely no effect on the sound quality of the Saab speakers themselves, its just an addition to what exists. It does allow you to turn down the bass level to the Saab speakers, as the Basslink handles all the low bass once installed. I can play the mids and highs through the Saab system at a higher level without distortion, given that they aren't trying to handle the bass frequencies anymore.
I have had some pretty robust custom stereo/subwoofer setups in my past cars, and I have to say I was blown away by the effect and output of this little Infinity unit. If you have a sedan, and leave the ski passthrough to the trunk open, the amount of low, clean bass that comes into the cabin is amazing. I imagine in a wagon it would be equally as impressive.
What is most impressive is its low cost (around $200 on eBay), and it is dirt cheap to install (under $50 for me at a local car audio shop). You don't have to hack your car apart to install it, it takes up almost no room, and makes an already good stock system sound even better.
Unless you are a audiophile with esoteric needs and tastes, and can't see how anyone wouldn't be satisfied with this Infinity unit.
