I'm not convinced that this isn't a problem. The less play in the seat the better in my opinion. I found a very tenuous latch point for the top teather by using the hinge for the seat bottom. I further support the child seat by wedging it in place with the front passenger seat. It seems surprisingly secure. I looked high and low around the base of the front passenger seat to find an anchor point without luck. Seems like there should be one.
