I, too, am considering the V70 or the 9-5 wagon which is why I keep reviewing this board. Like you, I'll wait for the '02 models which neither is going to significantly change from the '01. I currently have a Volvo 745 which owes me nothing and the cargo space has spoiled me such that either of the 2 new models will have less, but, that's the way of the world. Maybe I'm different from everyone else when I say that I think a wagon should be boxy...I like the older sytles more than the current "lets graft the wagon on to the sedan without changing any sheetmetal" look. I think that wagons should have more glass area.
I love my OG900, however, I would consider myself more comfortable with Volvo. That said, Volvo has publicly admitted that its quality has suffered as of late and this may take more than one year to iron out. The 9-5 is Saab's best car yet by Consumer Reports accounts and some of those posting on this board. If I were to buy today, I would choose the 9-5 base wagon and look for the ECU upgrade to be fitted by the dealer once it becomes available for the '01s and '02s.
