But I have to agree with you.The sport mode in my opinion does a better job of giving you increased performance when you nee it since all you need to do to engage it is flex your right ankle.You do not have t ofirst place the main shift selector in the 4 position as you do when you use the paddles( and naturally then forget to put back in D)and like you said, you get the more agressive throttle mapping which is really the biggest advantage of the sport mode. I leave my 2002 Aero in sport exclusively and think that they could have just as well built the car with that package and not even botherd with the so called Normal mode. The paddles are a marketing gimick,since they are still controlling a planetary gearbox and torque converter, and the full auto mode does a better job of that.
