I may actually be qualified to help you a little with this question. You see, I drive a 2001 9-5 sedan with the Aero wheels and my wife has a 1999 Audi A6 Avant (not quite the same but very, very close.)

Since I drive both regularly and we live in Indiana (5 inches of snow now - and we had a foot around Christmas) I really know how these cars handle the weather. I'm not sure how any changes to the current models' suspension would effect the results.

The Saab initially did very poorly because it came with Michelin Pilot summer tires. I replaced them with Faulken all season performancw tires and now it is very good - maybe a B + on the snow. The TCS kicks in but not too obtrusively and it holds pretty well. If I had winter tires it would be great.

My wife's Audi is a tiny bit better. Especially going up the hill on our driveway at lower speeds. It just seems to hold the grip better (all season tires as well - Dunlops).

However; the Audi does tend to drift much more when accelorating through a corner. The back end just seeems to come out of it a little and the whole car drifts.

Also consider maintenance $. Holy cow on the Audi. We just hit 90000 and the "routine" maintenance is $1300 (timing belt. water pump, filters, plugs) plus she needs new wheel bearings in the rear left, CV boots in the front, and more stuff I can't remember.

Over two years of ownership we are averaging just under $2000 per year in repairs and Maintenance on that beast. I had a Passat before and it was ezpensivw to maintain but the Audi is worse.

that's my 2 cents.
