You can't keep pouring money into the '84 if there's no end in sight. As far as the Mopar goes, the '93s and '94s (first 2 years) were riddled with problems. American cars are easier to fix and cheaper to fix, plus, virtually any shop knows how. Chryslers, like Saabs, are notorious for having suspect transmissions. Maybe your grandfather had his replaced under warranty. The A/C systems are another trouble spot. My father's '95 Concorde had both done at the same time while under 60,000 miles. Its not a bad car at all, but, quite a switch from what you're used to.
