I've owned both. The 900 is sportier, don't worry abot the auto if it's been propeerly maintained. The manual trans in the 900 have a weak spot alos, don't understand why so many people talk down the reliability of the auto. The drivetrain of the 9000 is more reliable and more sifisticated.
The 9000 could be more electrical problems because the are more electronics. Check what's available for a manual for the 9000. When I had mine there was no aftermarket one available, I ended up with a full Saab shop manual (the best, but incredibly expensive, and you can't do much your self without one).
