I am SURE it highly depends on the area in which you live. For instance:

clutch:
Was going to do myself, but was trying to get packed up for trip and was not able to get that done (first time ever). Went to my mechanic in Melbourne FL. (I got kit from sobstory) He installed for $195 which included the turn of freewheel too. Not one problem with clutch for 25k since.

waterpump:
Now in Marietta Ohio, water pump goes out. Take to local mechanic (get waterpump from sobstory) charges me $65 for install. No problems with that either, 18k later.

Alignment:
Going to put 4 new balljoints and tie rods on car myself back at home (FL) then have car aligned. Checked with mechanic to see how much to install joints, just to see $120. Umm No thanks. Check with alignment shops. Anywhere between 70-100!! (Thinking back to when I got tires in Dec (P4000) remember that back at school in OH, align was only $25 whcih included everything camber, caster, and toe; and yes he does actually change the shims too)

Went in there once I got up here for fall semester to get appointment, just asked out of curiosity to see how much for install of joints. Tells me $25 a side. Ummm OK!
