If you're starting out with an '86 SPG and an '86 notch, it should be fairly easy to do. I had parts from an '87 SPG to work with. I'm not sure I remember everything, but here goes...
You shouldn't need to change any of the wiring leading to the rear of the car. Since I was using '87 electronics, I swapped all the wiring behind the dash along with the instrument cluster.
Pull EFI harness and fuse box harness along with the computers (EZK, EFI)and replace with turbo harnesses and computers after installing turbo motor. It should be a simple plug-n-play operation. Mine was a little harder because I used a different year harness and did not know whether the '87 instrument cluster was compatible with the '86 dash wiring (no Bentley in my possession back then just a local Saab Master tech who allowed me to pick his brain on weekends). The only splicing required was in adapting the '87 harness to '86 lighting.
I finally got rid of that car after someone hit it in a parking lot, but before the wreckers took it, I pulled the entire '86/87 harness (nose to tail) for installation in an '85 SPG that replaced it. The only problem I had was figuring out how to wire the dome light properly at the console switch. Last I heard the '85 SPG's new owner drove that car from DC to its new home Florida last spring without a hitch.
I hope you're planning to install the SPG panels on the notchback. That's a project I always wanted to work on -- a 1986 SPG notch. Enjoy!
