I think Justin misread your original post. I think it would be easier to put a turbo 16 valve motor (LH controlled) in a 16 valve car (also LH controlled) rather than in a CIS controlled 8-valve car.
Anyway, I turbocharged my '86 notchback, but I used a '91 2.1 motor and trans. I do not have APC. I run 9 psi of boost on EZK with a manual boost controller. 30K miles of fun. (The headgasket did blow 5K into the project at 11 psi of boost). If your n/a 2.0 motor in the 'notch is sound, I'd say add his turbo components to that and have a 2 liter version of what I drive. You will like it. If you do install his lower compression turbo 16 valve motor, you could use water injection instead of APC.
Good luck!
