Beleive it or not Ive installed 2 timing chains before no problem. Thats where I learned about colored links. They match up with those marks on the sprockets. So yeah those marks are pointing straigt up. My problem I think is the slack. If I want no slack from the crank to exhaust sproket then it is impossible for the marks to be right. The teeth and chain dont matchup. Its either right before or right after "V". My main problem is the shafts spin if I dont wedge something in there to keep them still but then when I get everything tight and let go of cam it "snaps" back into the position it wants. causing slack in chain and the marks to be off. The only thing I am able to do is get the chain tight some what all around but the cam marks are slightly off on both. One ahead of mark the camshaft behind the mark. Seems close enough but when I spin the marks arnt quite right and flywheel is around 10-15degrees. err. thanks for your help ted. i appreciate it. hopefull I can get it but I always end up in the same position. ill try and take your advice about advancing it a little or something. to bad i cant look at it again till next weekend.
