If you want to see people appreciate the collectibility of the CE, head out to an owners' convention. I went to my first this year, and the number of people walking around that could tell the CEs from the CE clones was impressive. Not too snobby, just people that knew their facts.
I completely missed the exclusion of the side trim the first time I saw your '86 in the gallery. Probably a double-take item at best. Then again, I found a photo of a convertible without it, and we need to look no farther than the convertible top operating instructions in the owner's manuals. Not to mention it'll be easier to wax... I think I like it.
