So my first under carpet rust experience was due to wetness originating from the steering column hole...I had gone-a-snowplowing with my car one day (with 12 inches of fresh, sliding around the neighborhood terrorizing the place!), and I had pushed in that rubber collar with snow.
It kept getting wet when I drove until I figured it out...simple fix.
If your sunroof drains are clogged, it'll drip into the cabin.
IF your Door seals are not aligned right (as is my current dilemma), leakage can occur near the inside corner of the door, at the bottom, where water from the roof gutters travels down the windshield, into the hinge area, and then, in my cse, under a gasket-frame seal thing, and into my car. I do not know how I am going to fix this.
yes, horrible design. I do not know about your issue, though. I imagined that the vent on the hood would not drain into the interior...maybe you're missing a drain pipe? I do not know.
