Irrigating the Carpets Posted by EverettDave [Email] (#1894) [Profile/Gallery] (more from EverettDave) on Sat, 6 Nov 2010 03:45:11 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
As Rosanna Rosannadanna used to exclaim "IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING!"
No sooner do I get my cooling fan replaced and back on the road with smiles, and I just discovered that my left side carpets are full of coolant! I've been here long enough to know what this means, and right now I am testing to isolate problem to core or heater valve. My symptom is boiling coolant bursting past upper heater hose clamp when I did the cooling fan test. Clamp cannot be tightened further, so I am looking for a cracked heater valve or a failed hose end. I see a trail of coolant down the engine side of firewall below the heater hoses, apparently through the rubber gasket there, and into the carpets on the inside.
From my Bentley and searching earlier posts, it looks like the heater valve is replaced completely from the top through the speaker grille. Is this correct? The 4 screws are all on top, right? One only need remove console and knee bolster to access the core and replace it, it seems. Your comments are welcome.
