The mechanics go from underneath by bending the black air diffuser down. The screws face down and are either 4mm allen head or T25. One of the screw heads is partially behind a heater core tube. The tool of choice is a Snap-on ball end allen on a 1/4 inch socket that has a 6 inch shaft. Because of that and because I want to be sure I have the o-rings in proper alignment I always pull the knee bolster for better access. I also pull it together with the heater core which is way over kill but I get to examine the core for signs of seapage. Then just a few more screws the carpet and pad come out. While the wife's at work they get rinsed in the bath tube.
