IME Roger is spot on with the underneath approach - I don't generally remove the bolster, but I do remove the center console (for head room) and the air plenum for clearance. Sears sells the ball-end style allen wrenches (both as an allen "key" and a 1/4" socket), which *really* help out. You can use a tiny amount of gasket sealant (Permatex, etc., any auto parts store) to give the o-rings a little tack so they don't go anywhere.
