I specialize in rebuilding and upgrading turbochargers of all types and sizes however I prefer a Mitsubishi for a lot of reasons! They last way longer as their turbine housings are less prone to cracking and if you're going to do a DIY rebuild the TE05 is much easier to do! Scariest part is not tagging a wheel during dismantling especially on the turbine side! Worst case scenario would be serious enough contact to bend the turbine wheel shaft! Genuine Mitsubishi parts can be hard to find as well as expensive! I source bearings, thrust sets, sealing rings and o-rings from different sources so I have genuine quality or better. For example The company I use for bearings made Garrett's bearings in the early days and their tolerances are the best I've found! Having minimum safe bearing clearances makes a rebuild feel as new or better! I'm not a fan of custom oil feed lines because SS braided lines being flexible they need to be supported at several places along the way! Your original steel line is fine as long as it's thoroughly cleaned, I use a long flexible riffle cleaning brush with carb spray cleaner. As far as building a stock Mitsu TD05 series (same parts as the Saab TE) I got lucky a few years back when I found a company that had a lot of OEM TD05 internal parts however I still use my favorite bearing manufacturer to get the minimum clearances I want! If you have any questions during you DIY rebuild I've helped several here to avoid any problems especially dismantling procedures! Dave at Precision Turbo Works, 805-235-3951
