WInter beater idle, running problems solved? Posted by CBS [Email] (#969) [Profile/Gallery] (more from CBS) on Thu, 12 Dec 2013 18:13:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So my rusty but trusty '88 SPG winter beater was VERY hard starting would run then die, then hunt, then die, then warm up, hunt and die. You get the picture. Swapped in a known good AMM. Same thing. Was pondering a swap of AIC. But then I thought, man, I haven't really run this car in two years. And haven't put in "new" fuel in 2-3 years (don't know why it took me so long to think of this?). So put a couple gallons from snow blower in and a little Techcron, and it started running a little better. Made the trip to the neighborhood gas station and filled up -- very surprised it took 15.5 gallons (though I've been going by the odometer since the gauge/sender died). Bingo. It was old gas...I think. It is definitely running better. We will see how it starts tomorrow in 15 degree temps. But I'm feeling good about it for the first time in two weeks.
