Thanks Jet, but the wire bundle next to the cat was clean and intact. But that was the extent of my probing. Not sure what the "plastic trough" is that you're referring to. Probably farther foreward -- front of cat -- than I was able to probe. Does that wire bundle dive outside the body of the car? Or is there a trough under the carpet under the DIN console? I think what I'll do is try not to disturb the wire bundle at all and clean the contacts on top of the ignition. And if that gets it to work then that would likely rule out damage to the non-exposed portion of the bundle. Though my manipulations of the bundle and possible damage is a likely culprit due to floor replacement and riveting under the bundle there. But I think "no, no, you keep it...you got a good thing going there" -- Bill Murry as HST in Where the Buffalo Roam.
