And note the position of the plastic pin on the face of the clock spring. It's the pin that goes into a hole in the steering wheel. Don't let that face rotate while you're fiddling it out. Maybe best to secure it with a piece of tape. Be careful handling the clock spring assembly when removing it. The front rotating plate is secured to back by small plastic tabs. Remove it as an assembly by holding both the front and back with your fingers (unplug both wire plugs first). Be patient with the lock spring that holds the bearing on the shaft. I use several small screwdrivers and go around and loosen the tabs little by little.
