Can I get by with one alternator belt temporarily? Posted by Devin [Email] (#2469) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Devin) on Fri, 7 Mar 2014 12:51:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Guys,
I had new belts installed, the alternator bushings replaced, and a voltage regulator installed about a year ago on my 92' Turbo that I keep at my parents' place.
The car gets driven like 300 miles a year tops and they don't start it much but it's on a trickle charger.
When I drove it at Christmas in the extreme cold one of the alternator belts squealed and broke.
The other belt appears fine.
Can I drive the car temporarily with a single belt or will I damage the alternator?
Thanks, Devin
