No conclusion except that XP is indeed dead, and if you run it in the background within Windows 7, you still have a chance of issues with security. EPC can't be loaded on a 64 bit system, and you can load it into XP, but with a risk if you are connected to the internet. Bottom line is that I have to have a separate laptop with an EPC and the other DOS programs I still run as there isn't another solution. And, to boot, none of the devices I still operate run on 64 bit, so I had to buy all new everything. Having said that, it is faster ( when it works ) and eventually, I'll get used to the new OS and the quirky way they want you to think....or not think......
