I probably don't even need to chime in now, but fwiw, both my c900's are on 82 degree for both with merc coolant as per Townsend. It is significantly colder in winter here than Maine and hotter in the summer also (I much prefer the Maine climate!). No problems whatsoever with this setup. My indy regularly does this on c900s when asked also, and again, no problems with heat. I actually rarely have my 1989 set above half way in the winter or it is an oven in there!
