Yep at that point you are bypassing the sensor switch. and since the fan ran when we bypassed the relay that pretty much means that the relay is kaput. The relay is Saab part number 95 58 073 and available from site sponsors as low as $28.99. Something you can do is to (first, remove the jumper from the sensor switch and reconnect it then) remove the relay and install a jumper between the female slots that correspond to the 30 and 87 terminals (yellow and yellow/white wires). Drive the car until the fan comes on and then shut it down. The fan should run until the coolant cools down and the sensor switch goes open, maybe about 10 minutes. If the fan stops when you shut off the car or continues running even after the coolant is cool then there is some other problem.
