I've come close to hitting a deer in a c900 several times and wondered how the car would take this. Did you actually hit the deer or did you lose control trying to avoid it? Since the hood is so much lower than my Jeep, I've always wondered if the deer would flip over the grill and into the windshield?--obviously this didn't happen to you. Final question: if you did indeed hit the deer, did the collision cause enough damage to the car that it physically could not be steered and thus the meeting with the utility pole? In my experience with close calls, it was usually so startling that I almost lost control even though I avoided the deer.
Sorry about the curious George questions at this sad time for you. But I think car/deer collisions are so common these days that any info that might help avoid one is valuable. PS, you may decide to walk away from old Saabs, but my bet is that it will be temporary. This same thing would have happened to any other vehicle that you loved (except maybe an M1A1).
