More remarkable than our records ranging in speed from 129 to 140 in the measured mile in Ohio, was the sister car, an 88 SPG from Dobbins Racing that did over 170. Two runs later the transmission gave up. The 170 mark was breached by the SPG and the target is 174 to get that record back in Production Supercharged.
Tom Donney was also there with Bertil's 96 that sounded like three cats with their tails tied together thrown over a clothes line when it was going down the course.
Our best run was the last of the day on the 9th try going into a direct 11 knot wind and measured 140.625 mph. This is an '81 8 valve with a CIS injected system using some parts from the 1976 era of Porsche turbos. It's not easy getting enough fuel in the engine to make power, so if you decide to give it a try, I'd say to go with blown carbs and leave that CIS system in the parts bin......
