Thanks for that idea Bernie. What I did was search out 2 of the 6 preeminent Bosch racing fuel experts and found that both of them said there was no fuel delivery testing published by Bosch, unlike the EFI injectors....in other words, you can't find a chart that tells you what the mechanical fuel injectors flow. Now, there might be some independent studies on this, but these guys said it couldn't be obtained from Bosch as it didn't exist. Having said that one of the Bosch guys was involved in european racing of Porsche using this equipment -- the point of that is that if there was anything bigger on a Rolls or a Fiat, these guys would have turned over that rock, and that would have been the injector they would have used, and therefore, what I would have used.
Then, I later confirmed all this with another guy that spent years perfecting the CIS systems in 930s and was satisfied that I did my best to effectively "hot rod" this car as would have been capable in 1981. You see, we have rules about the category I run in, and more modern technology than 1981 is not within compliance. It's a really tough gig because you have to put yourself in a time machine and think what can I use on my brand new 1981 car sitting here ... and make it run better. So, the late 70s Porsche stuff works for the time/date stamp concept of the build.
So, I'm not suggesting that anyone use 930 injectors on an 8 valve. Without the dozens and dozens of other things we did, it would never run with those pigs in the pen. Pig rich is an understatement until I throw boost at it, and then the AFR needle starts getting skinny, and I have to do something that Mario said never do.......lift the throttle......
