so0... cruising on ebay one day I came across an 88 5 speed from reputable place : 120kmiles on the unit ( parted car lost a control arm)
$400 shipping included with 12 month warrantee. I thought for a good shipped 5 speed that is less than a core on a rebuild so why not... to have a spare.. just a few clicks of the mouse and rolling it to the back of the garage was all my effort.
So now I have a dirty 5 speed on a pallet (very well packed).. with an old clutch dipstic/ inner drivers (nicely covered in plastic. shifts in all gears appears in great shape on the pallet... what do I do with it?..
Options.
1. do nothing.. nice trans with warrantee papers is easy to sell laterif i dont use.
2. Scrub it down / make it clean?.. reseal / flush fluids.. like I was going to use it? (this would at least make it not a greasy mess
3. inspect something internal to verify condition?
4. in extreme case send it to Cmyles for a re-build of bearings considering the miles and year (88).. let him do his thing while it is out. (given it is on a pallet for shipping already.. this could be easy).
Also how do people store these things?.. it is on a dolly on a crate that I can roll around .. does not take up too much space.
