IMHO, the heavy duty steel covers,in general, are for off road jeeps, etc to prevent breakage of an oem thin steel or cast aluminum cover. For a Saab Classic, it would be good for rallying on rocky dirt roads. For a cover to actually add strength to the diff opening, it needs to be designed that way from the start, with big body fit bolting and/or high friction metal to metal contact outboard of an o-ring type seal. For non rough rally use, the oem aluminum cover does a better job of cooling, as the oil is slung against it by the ring gear, and is the better choice.
