Not sounding like we're really going to have time to source a rally-skid-plate then. (Hitting the road on August 7th)

I remember seeing them on saabsavior YEARS ago (~+10 years ago ?!..feeling old now). What ever happened to that guy?

And to answer somebody else's comment. YES, its on lowering coils! i know, i know. Probably not the best choice for a wilderness adventure. But in all honesty, most of the driving is going to be freeway miles.
It's the possibilities of taking it IN TO the back country that I'm concerned about. ...I tend to get a bit adventurous when on holiday.

I've had C900s in the snow (and on ice!) many, MANY times. So I'm confident that I can handle it in the dirt.
I'm mainly fearing for the exhaust system and the (...god forbid) possibility of taking a hit from a jagged rock right in the gear box case. Doh!

I think we'll be rolling in stock-fashion this time around and use caution on the forest roads.

blacksheep, We might be neighbors! ? Hailing from Eugene currently, via transplant from {over-crowded} Portland area)
The route you described is usually the way we head down south. Glorious drive along the Rogue river, North Umpqua, and past N.crater lake access on the way to 97South all the way to Kalamath Falls and on to NE California (Modoc and Lassen County)
