I'll have to pull out an 89 pump and look at it again. It's a mutant as you have described.
My suggestion for getting fuel out of the tank -- pull off the return line from the FPR -- rig up a nylon line that fits in or over the return.
Jump in the fusebox from 27 to 30, turn on the key but use the jumper to control the fuel pump, and start filling containers. You need to be careful of course......
I think there is a procedure for pump testing in the bentley that tells how to hot wire the pump -- all you are doing is just pushing the fuel into the can instead of back to the tank.
