Sorry for the radio silence, it's been too hot to drive the 900 lately (no ac), and I wasn't quite ready to declare the problem solved without driving a bit more. I cleaned the throttle body and the 2 ground points on the cylinder head while I was waiting for a new IAC to arrive in the mail. After installing the new part, the issue did not occur after several days of driving. I went ahead and reconnected the cruise control vacuum pump and tested it out a few times, to success.
This was about 2-3 weeks ago, and I am happy to report that the issue has not cropped up since. I plan on cleaning my old IAC and stashing it with the rest of my spares in case I need it in the future.
Hopefully once the temperatures around here cool off a bit I can put some miles on the old beast and put my mind at ease. Now, if I could only find a proper body shop in my neck of the woods that is willing to do rust repairs the right way, sigh...
Thanks again Cmyles for the advice, I greatly appreciate it. Hope you are doing well and staying safe in these crazy times. Good luck with your SAAB projects!
